For Beginners ONLY workout

Cindy and I have had several requests for a REAL beginner workout. A workout that is for someone who is just stepping into their fitness journey. Everyone has that period in their story where they are new and feel scared and intimidated. We remember how it felt to walk into that fitness class where everyone was dressed to perfection and looked like they knew what they were doing….it’s AWFUL!!! It’s like being that kid in the cafeteria wandering around with their tray just looking for someone to make eye contact with to offer a kind glance and a place to sit. Ugh! Some things never change!!! If this is ringing true for you, then you’ve found a place to sit in the cafeteria! This is a beginner workout that is geared to just get your body moving for 10 minutes. That’s it. Don’t be afraid, don’t be intimidated, I’ll be with you from minute one to minute ten. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Water Jug & Towel Full Body Workout

I’ve always said that working out is more about my mental well being than my physical fitness. Obviously, there are many physical benefits to staying fit and I strive to embrace them all. But my biggest benefit for working up a good sweat is the mental health component. The endorphines that are released after a good workout are soooooo crutial to my keeping a positive state of mind. And so during this time of sheltering in place I wanted to create a workout that would not only benefit you physically, but would also help you release those endorphines that will benefit you mentally. So, no excuses! Grab your water jug (laundry jug, drink pack, kettlebell) and towel and let’s get moving together with the video below!

it's all one sided full body workout

As a mom of 5 girls, I find I am constantly seeking balance in my life. With a hectic schedule, I am always looking for ways to balance my daily schedule. It got me to thinking about balance in my workouts. It is easy to develop imbalances (right/left asymmetries) as a result of past injuries or just because you have a naturally dominant side. When you perform a bilateral exercise, your stronger side compensates by taking on more of the load than your weaker side. By performing exercises that challenge one side of your body at a time (unilateral exercises) you prevent muscle imbalances from developing, improve your core strength, challenge your brain (your nervous system builds new brain synapses) and prevent injuries. What’s not to love about that?!
